Painting and Mixed media
Painting has been and all always will be an important aspect of my life, as without it my soul would forget to sing. Painting is an outlet where I can be completely open and expressive as opposed to my work where I am the keeper of many secrets.
My art work is eclectic and at one time I became appreciative of art work that had a narrative and endeavoured to incorporate this appealing aspect within my paintings. However, I also think, sometimes our need for meaning makes us susceptible to illusion and so, at times I'm equally as happy to paint spontaneously from imagination.
This mixed-media series is called,
'Signatures of Souls'. (The 6x6x6 series)
These mixed-media pieces have been created by hand printing onto rice paper. I rolled ink onto a small square of Perspex, placed rice paper over the top, drew on the rice paper and then peeled the rice paper away from the Perspex. This technique was used to form the bottom layer of each painting. It was subsequently built up with various paints and tissue. If you require any more information, please feel free to email me.
